Headboard Bench Project #2
Dollar day Thrusday at the Goodwill was pretty good for headboards last week. So without further ado.. I have started another headboard bench... This one is a little different because I can't use the footboard for arms... but instead I am incorporating it into the front.
Again I have made a frame out of 2x4's and am making sure everything is all square and level.

Check.. Headboard bench. done..
I declare it done. ( for now) ... There has been some discussion around here.. about upholstering the bench... I opted for some cheap cushions from Ross..
#1 Reason.. I have 4 dogs that think everything is here just for them to wallow on...
( See here's 3 of them sitting in front of the fan waiting for me to tie on the cushions )
#2 Reason.. Sewing is not my favorite thing .
#3 Reason ..I want to be able to change the color of the cushions whenever I want..
So without further toodoo..!! I declare the darn thing done.

Headboard bench part 2
The nail holes have all been filled... it's been sanded from end to end.. and a coat of Spray paint . sprayed on.. Also I painted the bare lumber with some "OOPS " paint from Home Depot.
Now it just needs a coat of the real paint .. "Black Suede".. and a coat of Poly and some cushions.

Headboard bench project comes in the house for it's big Finish..!!!
Considering it's even hotter today.. more like 250 degrees in my garage
I think it might start raining and get really windy..... . I drug the headboard project into the house ... (don't tell my husband .. he hates it when I paint in the house) .. any way... here it is..I distressed it a little bit around the edges and now all I need to do is put on a coat of Satin Finish Poly and find some cushions for it... it'll be up in my bedroom in no time.

Bench made from a Headboard.
Well since it's only a 150 degrees in my garage today, I decided I just had to start a new project... .. So... here it is.. I started out with a headboard and footboard from the Goodwill.. this is a full size headboard..

I started by cutting the footboard in half.. actually I cut a 1 foot section out of the middle..
then I cut about 3 inches off the feet of the headboard.. to make the bench part all even...

I am repurposing the leaves from this little table
for my bench seat.. and bought 2 2x4's and a scrap 1x6 at Home Depot... and some screws .. 3 inches and 2 1/2 inches.
Next I built a framework for the seat. and attached it with screws.
It was really hot in the garage today.... this little bit of work took almost all day.. lol... Good thing it's a small project. ..
Next we cut the pieces for the seat and notched out the corners to fit around the posts.... We also cut the 1x6 for the trim piece on the front...
